Gearbox Housing

Gearbox Housing is the mechanical housing that surrounds the mechanical parts of the gearbox. It provides mechanical support for moving parts, mechanical protection of these internal parts from outside influences, and a fluid-tight container for the lubricant that wets these parts.

Types of housings

A split housing is like a walnut shell, the housing is divided into two parts, and lower part ties down the Gear Box to the structure, supports all the components during the assembly stage, and holds the lubrication oil; and the upper part complete the enclosure and provide mechanical integrity to the Housing. The upper and lower parts of the housing have a mating surface that seals perfectly the housing to avoid oil leaks and fatigue housing.

A bathtub housing is made on a single piece and has a top opening for servicing the gearbox and a side opening to accommodate the bearing housing associated with the gear shafts. Have in general a better leak-free performance but is more difficult to assemble and repair.

Methods of manufacture

It is made of cast aluminum using Die-Casting Mold casting shell forming method or Five-Axis CNC Machining.

Die casting is a metal casting process using reusable molds ("Die-Casting Mold"), usually made of metal. The most common process uses gravity to fill the mold, but air pressure or vacuum is also used. A variation of the typical gravity casting process, called hollow casting, produces hollow castings. Common cast metals are aluminum, magnesium and copper alloys. Other materials include tin, zinc and lead alloys, and steel is also cast in graphite molds.

According to ISO regulations, when describing the motion of CNC machine tools, a right-handed rectangular coordinate system is used; the coordinate axis parallel to the main shaft is defined as the z-axis, and the rotation coordinates around the x, y, and z axes are A, B, and C, respectively. The movement of each coordinate axis can be realized by the worktable or the movement of the tool, but the direction is defined by the movement direction of the tool relative to the workpiece.
